Biography

The research of Floris Boogaard focuses on climate adaptation and optimizing long-term efficiency of urban Nature-Based Solutions. Since 2013, he has held a professorship at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, and has over 25 years of experience in consultancy, research, and management, currently working at Deltares.

Floris founded ClimateScan.org, a database of over 15,000 NBS projects, and organizes international ClimateCafes to enhance city resilience. He coordinates the Building Climateadaptation Fieldlab, testing innovations to mitigate flooding, drought, and heat stress, with research areas including climate adaptation, citizen science, and stormwater management.
